Nestle is a huge plastic water bottle company. The PR of this campaign is genius. These plastic water bottles claim to use 15% less plastic. This would be a good thing to support if you were needing to buy or used to buying plastic water bottles. Unfortunately, the idea that is planted in the heads of those why buy this type of product or other products marketed this way is that this less plastic is more environmentally friendly. These ‘less plastic bottles’ are sold on flats that have more bottles that the standard water bottle flats do. The logic Nestle and other companies are hoping the consumer will adopt is that if you are saving plastic, which is good for the earth, then buying more of the ‘better’ bottles does no extra harm and is cost effective. Let’s not adopt these ideas and move more toward reusable water bottles! Fight the greenwashing machine!
